bank vole

i had my good friend Ben round one day when we took pictures of redpoll to my delight he spotted a bank vole nipping in and out of a shed to snatch food from under the bird feeders . we got some pictures of him as he was running up and down the compost heap and in the grass , i had an idea to put an old rusty pipe down and get him to run up and down it.

Ben furthered this by creating a set with some moss and some ivy ...... i will let the pictures tell the rest of the storey.

A new project

Robins and Dunnocks little birds that have big personalities , i have been feeding them mealworms and what makes a better picture than a robin on the handle of a spade or fork.

Another shot at the goldfinch

So round two , i have an image i really want to get with these and step by step i think i will get there so i hope you keep coming back to look.i hope they stick around this year as they bred in the garden last year and would love to see more of them.

New garden tick

A really fine looking male Lesser Redpoll, these were taken from a fair distance so not brilliant photos but a nice little record for the garden. Hopefully it will stick around and i can get some better images.

a few bits from january

ok its a bad photo but it is the first water rail in my garden so it is going on .

A very misty morning but very atmospheric i thought

a slow start this year but not through lack of trying very weird mild weather has made nature not as usually confiding as you would imagine for this time of year .....
