Hampshire part 2

So we started the day off in Keyhaven a small harbour , it was very dim with at first glance not many birds, after a while of walking around scoping out the wildlife and best spots we came upon this little beaut!!! A Greenshank i spent a lot of time trying to get close to the little guy and got absolutely covered in sea sludge, thank god i remembered a spare change of clothes.

Whilst Ben and I were snapping away a dog came marauding along and scared the bird closer to us, excellent we got a few snaps and then the dog persisted and flushed the Greenshank away. After the owner managed to get her dog back we realised it had fatally wounded a Turnstone .

Spent the day in the New forest yesterday my first birding experiance in the county and apart from the cloud cover it was brilliant, big thanks to Ben and Matt for coming down and showing me round. thought i would post some pictures that were different and thought provoking.

Bogey Bird!

So, a day trip to North Lincolnshire with best friend Ben to find and photograph Short Eared Owls, i was going to post the picture of the fence post we saw with no owl on, but could not bring myself to see that bl**dy fence post again.

Anyway the morning was more productful, Pochards ................ lots of them.........

Tame Tufted

Another saturday comes so me and my two boys Finlay and Henry go down to the river to feed the ducks, walk the dog and pick up some sweeties. For the most part we have only come across mallard but this saturday i was happily surprised to find a tufted duck who was just as tame as the mallard even coming out on the bank to feed.
